We specialize in the diagnosis and management of asthma, allergy and clinical immunology including conditions such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), sinusitis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), food allergy, drug allergy, anaphylaxis (systemic allergic reactions), contact dermatitis, urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling), conjunctivitis, primary immunodeficiency syndromes and many others.
We help patients determine the causes and treatment for symptoms such as nasal congestion, “sinus” symptoms, ear and eye symptoms, shortness of breath, wheezing, headache, chronic cough, recurrent respiratory and other infections, skin rashes, hives and others.
We offer all types of allergy testing, rhinoscopy, pulmonary function testing, nitric oxide testing, as well as allergen immunotherapy (allergy injections), intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) infusions, and anti-IgE (Xolair) injections if these are indicated.

Dr. Spector is an internationally recognized expert in the field of allergy, asthma and clinical immunology. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Postgraduate education included residency in Internal Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, research fellowship in the Laboratory of Virology and Rickettsiology at the National Institutes of Health, and fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He also spent one year in Paris as a US Public Health Service Research Fellow under the renowned allergist, Prof. Bernard Halpern, who discovered promethazine.
Dr. Spector is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine. He was on the Board of Regents of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI). He has held numerous leadership positions including Allergy and Immunology Program Director at the National Jewish Hospital, Past President of the Los Angeles Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the California Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
He has published over 350 journal articles, books and book chapters and lectures all over the world. He received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1994, as well as Distinguished Service Awards from both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI).
Dr. Spector is married to his wife Judith and has three children, Daniel, Tahlia and Ilana.

Dr. Tan has been in private practice in Allergy and Clinical Immunology since 1996. He earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines in Manila. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo Residency Consortium in Buffalo, New York. Fellowship training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology followed at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Medical Corps stationed in Del Rio, Texas from 1991-1993.
Dr. Tan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He has served as an officer or committee member of many specialty societies, including the California Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (CSAAI), American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology ( ACAAI) and the International Association of Filipino Allergists & Immunologists (IAFAI). He has published numerous articles for journals such as the Annals of Allergy and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is also written several book chapters and is a co-author of Practical Allergy, a textbook for primary care physicians.

Dr. Tahlia Spector earned her medical degree at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. She successfully completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at UCLA and Olive-View/UCLA Medical Centers. She also completed a fellowship in Medical Education at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. During residency, she spent several months studying tropical medicine in Peru during which she received a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Gorgas Memorial Institute of Tropical and Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Spector is a Diplomat of both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine with expertise in curricular development and clinical teaching. She is the chair of the 3rd year Longitudinal Preceptorship Program and Director of Continuing Education for the Acute Care College at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In addition, she is currently working on several educational grants awarded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Human Genome Research Institute as well as being a case writer for the National Board of Medical Examiners Integrated Case Development project.
Dr. Spector and her husband Jason have two children, Jonah and Gavin.

Denise A. Jaffe earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount St. Mary’s College, California in 1999. She worked at UCLA Medical Center in the Neurosurgery/Trauma ICU for five years. Prior to that she worked in the Cardiothoracic step down unit at UCLA Medical Center.
Denise continued on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of California Los Angeles in 2005. She completed clinical training in pediatrics, internal medicine, and family medicine at Sierra Vista Community Center in Ventura County and at other sites in Los Angeles, working exclusively with the underserved population. After graduate school, Denise worked at Capital Allergy & Asthma Group in Sacramento California with Dr. Bradley Chipps.
Denise is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked in our office since 2007. She is a Sub-Investigator for all clinical studies in our office. Denise is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, California Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Nursing Society, and Gamma Tau Chapter.
Denise is married with two children and enjoys traveling and cooking.
